Former lead singer of La Ley, inveterate pretty boy, sometime interviewer ... Beto Cuevas could coast on his good looks, but this impeccably produced pop rock makes for an infinitely more interesting surfboard. "Vuelvo"'s '80s feel strikes at the heart of the current rage for retro and began climbing charts soon after the album's release, but he's really a wonderful ballad singer, as songs like "Hablame" and "No Me Queda Nada" prove. (Check out the vocal resemblance to Gustavo Cerati.) Highly polished as this solo debut is, it proves Cuevas has the goods to be a star in his own right.
