Muerte En Hawaii
Sello: Sony Music Latin
When they started out, Calle 13 were foul-mouthed lotharios whose politics -- if they had any -- took a backseat to celebrating sex in all its dirtiest permutations. It's a different story in 2010. The inventive musicality that has always raised them head and shoulders above their Puerto Rican compatriots has found its mate in Residente's increasingly poetic and pointed lyrics. The guy takes down his record label within the first five minutes -- "My label's not Sony, my label's the people" -- and then makes us move in harmony with the universe ("Todo Se Mueve") even as we deplore its evils.
